Our Core Beliefs and Beginning

At Regional Worship Center, we are founded on the belief that everyone is chosen by God, immensely valuable to Him, deeply loved, and completely forgiven upon asking. We are dedicated to witnessing God's transformative power and the profound impact of His grace and love on individuals' lives.

Pastor Pope was the first Pastor of our church back in 1922

How we bagan

The Sherburn Assembly of God had its beginning in 1922 when Rev. Willard Pope of Tulsa, Oklahoma came to hold evangelistic meetings. The meetings were held in the vacant Methodist Church on South Manyaska. Services continued there until 1923 when a church charter was drawn up and Rev. Pope became the first pastor. The building on Manyaska Street was dedicated in July 1925 and was known as the Gospel Tabernacle.

In the early 1930’s the church affiliated with the national organization of the Assemblies of God. It was one of the first Pentecostal churches in the area.

In 1966-67 while Melvin Hanson was pastor, the congregation built the edifice on North Lake Street. Services began in April of 1967 in that building.

Pastor Steve Nordyke came to be our pastor in 1989 and under his leadership building plans had begun to build on the I-90/Highway 4 property. Groundbreaking was May of 1997 and we occupied the building in July of 1998.
